Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and LabCanvas (“Labsite”, “we”) for using Labsite, a service for building and hosting research-lab websites. By creating an account you agree to them. If you use Labsite for a university, institute or company, you confirm you may accept these terms for it.
1. Your account
- Give accurate details and keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to create an account. Students who are younger may only join through a site owner who is responsible for them.
- Site owners decide who else can edit their site and what they can change. Owners are responsible for the people they invite.
2. Your content
- You own your content — text, photos, publications and files you or your team add. You give us permission to store, copy, display and deliver it only to run the service (for example to show your site to visitors and make backups).
- Make sure you may publish what you add: you have the rights to photos and files, and the people listed on your site agree to appear (see our data-protection terms).
- Don’t use Labsite for anything unlawful, misleading, hateful or harmful; to infringe others’ rights; to send spam or malware; or to attack, overload or probe the service. We may remove content or suspend accounts that do, and will tell you why unless the law prevents it.
- You can export everything at any time from your dashboard (Domain & publishing → Download everything) and from your account page.
3. Imports and automatic updates
When you import an existing website, you confirm you are allowed to copy its content. Imported text and pictures may contain mistakes — check them before publishing. Automatic publication updates suggest papers from public databases; nothing is added to your site until someone on your team approves it.
4. Plans, payment and cancellation
- Publishing a site may require a paid plan, billed monthly or yearly in advance. Prices are shown before you pay and include tax where required.
- Payments are handled by Dodo Payments as merchant of record; their terms also apply to the purchase.
- Plans renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel any time from your dashboard; your site stays published until the end of the period already paid.
- If something goes wrong, contact us within 14 days of a charge and we will refund it where the service didn’t work as described. This doesn’t limit any rights you have under consumer law.
- We may change prices for future periods with at least 30 days’ notice.
5. Availability and changes
We work to keep Labsite fast and available, but it is provided “as is” and may occasionally be interrupted for maintenance or reasons outside our control. We may improve or change features; if we make a change that significantly reduces what a paid plan includes, you may cancel and receive a pro-rata refund.
6. Ending the agreement
You can delete a site or your whole account at any time from your dashboard. We may end or suspend accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if required by law. After deletion, your content is removed from our live systems straight away and from backups within 30 days.
7. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
8. General
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction, without taking away any mandatory protections of the law where you live. If we update these terms, we will post the new version here and, for material changes, tell account holders at least 30 days in advance.
